In the Thicke of it.

It started friday. And it's all I've done since then. After a full 2 days to digest it in its entirety, I've come to the conclusion that my initial impression was totally on the mark. This is, through and through, the sexiest album ever. This may sound like a bold claim but, have you listened to the damn thing?? It is fantastic. And I mean sexy in the classiest sense of the word. The instrumentals and arrangement are simple and classy (with none of the booming bass or synthesizers that are regrettably all too common in R&B nowadays), resulting in music that is lush, sophisticated, and strictly adult. It is unabashedly sexual without being overtly sexual( i.e. R. Kelly), and that, is as impossible a feat as any in the horny soundscape that is R&B music. What's also great about Robin Thicke's fourth LP is that it's consistent with its sound. It knows what it wants to be. All too often artist release albums that just sound like them singing on a bunch of different producers' songs. But I really like that Thicke knows where he's going with this. Every song sounds like it's suppose to be on the album and that it's from the same artist and/or producer. It's his confidence in his musical abilities that makes this album seem so effortless. Whether it was really effortless or not for him, you can tell he was a part of every bit in the production of this album. I wasn't too big on him before but he's come to grow on me and now I just straight up like this guy. I dig what he's about. His music is soo much classier and more mature than his contemporaries. I mean with R. Kelly wanting to get you pregnant and Chris Brown wanting to transform ya(wtf is that suppose to mean anyways??), to say that those two things, class and maturity, are in short supply is an understatement. Music needs this album, I NEED THIS ALBUM. His music is exactly what i've been looking, waiting for. And in this album, he spends nearly the entirety of it in falsetto. I can't resist that, i just can't. Nothing screams sexual like an R&B singer in falsetto. An R&B singer he is, sexual this album was.
